ReplyDeleteGood presentation. I especially like the point that technology in the classroom must be meaningful. I can see some educators getting caught up in the technology craze and simply adding technology only to adhere to the current trends without rhyme or reason behind it. We must make sure there's always relevancy involved.
DeleteI loved using the screencast for some of the classes! Great presentation. I agree with Jeremy that educators need to make sure their is relevancy involved in the lessons! Great job!

ReplyDeleteGood presentation. I didn't know Vocaroo existed - thank you for yet another online tool. I like that you brought up the idea of school safety becoming a priority by using online tools. I think that is very important as we try to navigate this post-Columbine world we live in.
DeleteI also didn't know Vocaroo existed either. Great tool! I love to use videos with my students because they are super engaged. I was intrigued by the article you found about the two girls who were motivated by a game. Students learn through games and to make learning a game would increase engagement. Nice job!
DeleteHow awesome! Great presentation. I had heard of vocaroo but I have never used it before. I also like how you mentioned the school safety decline by using the online tools that were suggested!

ReplyDeleteBook creator is one of my favorite apps to use with my students. I haven't seen it used like this before and I really like it. I love that students can use this to embrace their creativity in any topic. I also love that you incorporated the 7 survival skills with this tool. It showed how it is a valuable tool to use. Great job!
DeleteI have never heard of this site before, it is a pretty neat site to use! Especially for primary grades! Thanks for sharing. This one just excites me! :)
DeleteI have never heard of this before! I will mark this down on my technology list to try out next year. I also saw a lot of articles about the use of authentic assessments and I think that technology can really be a great use to get those authentic assessments. Technology can engage students and get them excited to learn which can increase their assessment scores and their knowledge on a subject. Thanks For sharing!

ReplyDeleteI really liked your presentation! Another resource I did not know about to create a project. I will have to try it! I liked how you had in the virtual treasure hunts. What a great way to get kids really excited about learning. I also read about the safety tools that could be used with technology in school. This could make everyone feel safe being at school (which is crazy that we have to think that way nowadays). THanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteI read some articles about how powerful games can be to kids as well, and I think it is definitely something that deserves more attention! Your presentation is great, I have never used screencast-o-matic before, but it is something that I can see being a powerful tool for students, and teachers! What a cool way to be in more than one place at once! You could be teaching a small group and then your recording could be teaching a second small group!

ReplyDeleteI love that you wrote, "Teachers need to create more creative ways for students to learn." I think this sums up a gap in our planning that leads to great student understanding. Teaching is an art-form, and in order for us to help our students achieve their greatest potential, we constantly need to refine and improve our craft. Great presentation, and good food for thought!
